Naming new born baby
When a baby is born, in a sikh household the words of the Mool Mantar (a key prayer, composed by Guru Nanak) are whispered into the ears of the child and a drop of honey is placed inside the mouth.
for naming the child ,the family will visit the gurdwara (usually within forty days of the birth)for the blessing from Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Sukhmani sahib in simply terms is a gurbani for "peace of mind and heart "

This prayer was a composition of Guru Arjun dev Ji, The fifth guru, It is said that the Guru ji wrote it in response to a request from a devotee who was suffering from physical pain and mental anguish. Listening and meditating to this prayer, restored him to calm and good health.
Langar
Langar is the communial food served at all sikh temples.
langar is served everyday at the Gurdwara Guru Panth Parkash Leicester,the community members book langar sewa in a celebration of any event, it is considered a blessing to have the food cooked as langar shared by the congregation

At Langar, only vegetarian food is served. This is done to ensure that all people, with whatever dietary restrictions will feel welcome to eat as equals.
Karah Parshad
Karah Parshad is a sweet flour based food which is offered to all visitors to the Darbar Sahib in a Gurdwara. This is regarded as food blessed by the Guru and should not be refused.
Those who prepare it bathe beforehand and recite bani (hymns) from the Guru Granth Sahib as they make it. When cooked, it is covered with a white cloth which is sprinkled with water as a symbol of cleanliness. It is then placed near the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. During the Ardas at the end of worship it is stirred with a small kirpan(sword). It is then given to all who are present as a sign of their equality and unity. Offering kara parshad also makes sure that no one leaves the Guru's presence empty handed.
